What we do
Identify areas where resistance challenges vector control and where resistance is under-reported
Specifically, the WIN identified the “hotspots” of insecticide resistance in dengue and other arboviral diseases and has developed centralized database and comprehensive maps of the levels and mechanisms of insecticide resistance in Aedes mosquito vectors.
Fill knowledge gaps on insecticide resistance in arbovirus vectors through commissioned reviews
Four deep reviews were made available to the public domain on topics related to insecticide resistance and vector control. Each review will involve a minimum of 2 consultants (internal or external experts). The list and expected outputs of each CR are described in the section “commissioned reviews” .
Assist national authorities (WHO) in decision-making for insecticide resistance management and deployment of alternative control tools
The outcomes of the WIN are to provide stakeholder with strong evidence for the development of strategic plans for vector control and sound management of pesticide use in public health. The findings and recommendations of the WIN have been presented during the first international workshop of the WIN hold in Brazil in December 2016 and Singapour in October 2018.
