ZIKAlliance
ZIKAlliance is a multinational and multi-disciplinary research consortium comprised of 53 partners worldwide and coordinated by Inserm, the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research, in 18 countries. ZIKAlliance is funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme under Grant Agreement N.734548 . The project will investigate clinical, fundamental, environmental and social aspects of ZIKV infection. In particular, ZIKAlliance will focus on the impact of ZIKV infection during pregnancy and the natural history of ZIKV in humans and their environment. In collaboration with two other EC funded consortia (ZikaPLAN and ZIKAction), ZIKAlliance will also work on the development of a preparedness platform in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The WIN is part of the WorkPackage n°6: Vectors and Vector Control in the frame of the Subtask 6.4.1 on Resistance to insectices (in task 6.4: Mosquito Control using conventional and innovative tools) and is represented by Dr Corbel, PI of the WIN (IRD, Montpellier)
The WIN proposes to increase the visibility and impact of ZIKAlliance research for vector control by:
- Ensuring wide dissemination of vector control & insecticide resistance results to the media and scientific community;
- Promoting findings on insecticide resistance in Aedes spp (levels, distribution and mechanisms) to national and international organizations in order to guide decision making in Zika vector control;
- Facilitating exchanges and collaboration between ZIKAlliance and WIN and other research institutions involve in arbovirus vector control.
